This month we are using embroidery hoops to create a seasonal wall hanging that might feature pumpkins, bats, autumn leaves, ghosts and more - it's up to you! Bring your creativity and use glue, felt, applique, embroidery or other techniques. Materials and tools provided.

A festival celebrating new compositions and composers presented by the Birmingham Art Music Alliance.
Birmingham New Music Festival presents new works by regional and national composers. The event takes place from October 18-21 and Hoover Public Library is proud to host the Friday, October 19th event in cooperation with the Birmingham Art Music Alliance.
Composers include Michael Coleman, Shawn Crouch, Monroe Golden, Matthew Scott Phillips, Tom Reiner, Alan Schmitz, and Geni Skendo.
Performers for this event include Trent Bradford(highland pipes), Seth Noble (vibraphone), Craig Hultgren (cello), and Geni Skendo (flute).

The program for the Alabama Hydrangea Society meeting will be presented by Hope Long. Hope will review many of the gardening books and Hydrangeas. We will learn which books we might want in our own personal collection as well as learn about some texts that might make a great reference book. Some books will inspire us with glorious photos and others will prove an important source of practical information on hydrangea cultivation and pruning. Visitors are welcome to attend and the program is free.

The Onlys started as a band called The Cruisers when the band was still in high school in 1980. Under the new name, they are rocking stronger than ever today!!! With a focus on playing the entire spectrum of music with an emphasis on "what can people dance to", you won't be able to sit still when listening to them. Six members strong, The Onlys have five singers and specialize on amazing harmonies utilized throughout their rocking sets.
The Onlys are comprised of Steve Hines (vocals, guitar, keyboard and harmonica), Kevin Kilpatrick (vocals, keyboard and guitar), Joey Childers (vocals and bass), Frank Thomas (vocals, percussion), Todd Murphy (drums), Clay McCrackin (sound engineer).

Air Force Colonel Kenneth Penmark (William Hopper) and his wife, Christine (Nancy Kelly), dote on their pig-tailed daughter, Rhoda (Patty McCormack) -- as does their lonely landlady, Monica Breedlove (Evelyn Varden). But self-centered Rhoda has a secret tendency for selfishness and loves to accumulate gifts, whether given or stolen, in her room. Christine keeps her knowledge of her daughter's darker side to herself, but when a schoolmate of Rhoda's dies mysteriously, her self-deception unravels.
