Dana Stewart

Dana Stewart- Senior Center Manager

Dana Stewart received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts with an emphasis in Mass Communication from the University of Montevallo in 1992.   She has been employed with the Parks and Recreation Department since 1992 overseeing various responsibilities during that span of time.  Dana's experience ranges from managing special events, specialty classes, the Hoover Recreation Teen Board and the Hoover Recreation Center’s Nursery prior to her most recent leadership position managing the Hoover Senior Center.

Examples of her professional accomplishments vary. She was a finalist in 2008-9 for the City of Hoover Employee of the Year.  Prior to this recognition, the Hoover Recreation Teen Board that she advised was the first group of teen event planners in the state of Alabama to receive the Alabama Recreation and Parks Association 2002 Innovative Program Award.  That same year, Dana was awarded the 2002 recipient of the Merit in Recreation Award, recognized for outstanding service made to the cause of recreation in the state of Alabama. She also was awarded the Alabama State Association for Health and Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (ASAHPERD) Personal Responsibility in Delivering Excellence Award in 2001.  More importantly than any award she has received, Dana will tell you that her professional goal has been devoted to being a “difference-maker” in the lives of those lives she touches.
