Hoover Park and Recreation Board

The Parks and Recreation Department operates under the guidance of the Hoover Parks and Recreation Board.  The Parks and Recreation Board was organized to promote public interest and participation in sports, athletic events, and recreational activities and to provide, improve, and operate public parks, athletic fields, recreational areas, and other related facilities within the City of Hoover.

The Hoover Park and Recreation Board oversees all aspects of the programs and facilities of the Hoover Park and Recreation system. The Board is responsible for developing policy and guidelines for operation of the department's sports, athletic, and recreational programs as well as the facilities used to conduct these programs. The Board is responsible for hiring and supervising department personnel. The Board is charged with establishing budgets for the Department and for ensuring that the Department does not exceed budgetary guidelines. The Board is also responsible for coordinating the acquisition, development and use of park and recreational facilities to meet the needs of the citizens of the City of Hoover. The members of the Board are appointed for six year terms by the City Council upon recommendation by the Mayor. The current members of the Board are:
