Hoover Road Projects June 2009 Update 1. Municipal Drive Relocation – The project started construction in December 2008 and is expected to be complete in early 2010. The project will improve capacity on Municipal Drive and Hwy 31. 2. Lorna Road TOPICS VI – This project is scheduled to go to bid in 2009. Work will include turn lanes and signal improvements at four intersections on Lorna Road. The intersections include Lorna Road at; Data Drive, Rocky Ridge Ranch Road, Old Rocky Ridge Road and Patton Chapel/Rocky Ridge Road. 3. Bluff Park TOPICS VII – This project is scheduled to bid in June 2009. Utility work has been underway for several months. The road work will improve traffic operations along; Fancher Drive, Valley Street, and Tyler Road. 4. Riverchase TOPICS VIII – This project has been delayed due to design issues with retaining walls and right-of way encroachments. 5. Valleydale Road, Riverchase to Hwy 31 – This project is currently under design with the completion of the 60% plan review. 6. Valleydale Road, Inverness Center Drive to Caldwell Mill Road – This project is currently under design with right-of-way appraisal work pending. 7. Chapel Lane Extension - This project will extend Chapel Lane from Al Seier Road to the road in front of Rooms to GO. Design is currently underway and utility relocation work will begin in early 2010. 8. Patton Chapel Road from Hwy 31 to Crayrich Drive – This is a Jefferson County project. Right-of-way has been acquired and should bid soon. 9. Galleria Blvd. Extension from Hwy 150 to Lorna Road – This is a Jefferson County project. The Federal Highway Administration and the Alabama DOT are reviewing the need for a corridor study. 10. Sulphur Springs Bypass – This project was opened to traffic last month. It connects a four land divided roadway from Sulphur Springs at Preserve Parkway to the existing four lane divided roadway under I-459. The new roadway has been named Preserve Parkway. 11. Grove Blvd. - The developer of the new Grove shopping center has constructed a divide four lane roadway that will connect Hwy 150 to the new Preserve Parkway. This road is scheduled to open this July. |
