12/29/2009  Hoover Will Be Launching New Initiatives for Recycling in the Coming Weeks and Months

PRESS  RELEASE:

From the Office of Mayor Tony Petelos

City of Hoover

12/29/09

Mayor Tony Petelos held a Press Conference today at 2:00 pm at Birmingham Recycling and Recovery located at 9 41st Street South.

Mayor Petelos challenged the residents of Hoover to make one of their New Year’s Resolutions to recycle more in 2010 so the City can double its recycling numbers. At the present time Hoover has recycled 18 tons in 2009 and the Mayor said our goal by the end of 2010 will be 36 tons.

Hoover strives continually to be a “greener” City” and this will aid in our pursuit to exceed our current findings.

Mayor Petelos listed the following items as recyclable in Hoover.

Newspapers

Cardboard boxes

Plastic bottles

Aluminum cans

Metal cans

Scrap paper

Junk mail
