On Wednesday, July 29th, The City of Hoover won the top award from the Anti-Litter group for Hoover's Annual Household Hazardous Waste Day held each April.
The creator of H.H.W.D., Hoover Employee, Sissy Mitchell, was present to accept the award along with Mayor Petelos and members of the Hoover Beautification Board Litter committee.
Hoover was chosen for this top award for litter prevention, one of three awards given at the Take Pride Statewide conference, sponsored by local environmentalist Pat Mitchell, also known as "Auntie Litter."
