NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

HUD CDBG Program

AMENDMENT TO ACTION PLAN FOR PY 2008

and

ACTION PLAN FOR PY 2009

As an entitlement community under the US Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, and consistent with HUD requirements, a public hearing will be held to receive and discuss comments relative to the City’s Consolidated Plan, amendment of the 2008 Action Plan to include a new activity and reallocate available funds to that activity, and to receive comments and suggestions for activities to be included in the 2009 Plan Year Action Plan.  Recent activities funded by the CDBG program include the Blue Ridge Boulevard Sidewalk Project, installation of handicapped accessible doors at the Hoover Senior Center and the Hoover Library, and acquisition of land and construction of a fully accessible playground and pavilion on Blue Ridge Boulevard.  

The City of Hoover requests comments from its citizens regarding proposed use of the CDBG available funds from the 2008 Plan Year, and comments and suggestions for projects that should be considered for the 2009 Plan Year and beyond. 

The hearing will be held at 5:30 p.m. on February 24, 2009, at Hoover City Hall, Council Chambers, located at 100 Municipal Lane, and is expected to last one hour.  If you have special needs to be accommodated or require an interpreter, please call (205) 739-6851 at least 24-hours prior to the hearing so we may make arrangements.  If you would like to comment and cannot attend the hearing, you may submit written comments to the City of Hoover, Mayor’s Office, Attention Jan Pearson, or email her at pearsonj@ci.hoover.al.us.  All written comments and suggestions to be considered during this hearing should be submitted to the City no later than 5:00 p.m. on February 24, 2009.
