12/11/2008  Mrs. Neal was recognized for her calm guidance in the delivery of a 911 caller's infant daughter.

This past Tuesday evening at the annual Birmingham Regional Emergency Medical Service System (BREMSS) banquet, city of Hoover Communications Officer Tina Neal was awarded “Public Safety Dispatcher of the Year.” The BREMSS region covers the counties of Blount, Jefferson, Walker, Winston, Shelby, Chilton and St. Clair.

Tina was nominated by Hoover Fire Department for her professionalism handling a 911 call on I-65.  This past August, Tina received a 911 call from an individual who stated his wife was in labor and that he had pulled his car over onto the shoulder of I-65 at Highway 31.  Tina calmly took control of the situation and using pre arrival instructions, led the father through the process of delivering the baby.

Tina was also recognized for her leadership within the Hoover Communications Department and the fact that she is an excellent trainer for new communications officers starting their careers in Hoover.
