Dancing with the Stars celebrity contestant and Academy Award Winner, Marlee Matlin made her first trip to Hoover, and to Alabama, yesterday.  Marlee and Hoover dance professional Fabian Sanchez appeared at the Comedy Club at the Stardome for the Dancing with the Stars Watch Party hosted by the City of Hoover and ABC 33/40. Approximately 400 people attended the event.

During commercial breaks, Marlee and Fabian performed the dance they will be dancing in the finale on live television. Mayor Petelos presented Marlee with a key to the City and ABC 33/40 presented gifts to both dancers. When asked how she likes Alabama, Marlee said "Alabama Rocks!". 

Fabian is one of our own having graduated from Berry High School. He and his wife, Jacqueline, own the Fred Astaire Dance Studio here in Hoover.
