Links Policy

It is the policy of the City of Hoover to publish electronic links to certain websites ONLY if they contribute to the betterment of the the Hoover community.  The City of Hoover's website link policy guidelines include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. The website must contribute to the quality of life and further the positive image of Hoover.
  2. The sponsor of the website must be a locally-recognized group or organization that promotes public health, public safety, public welfare, civic, cultural, or charitable ideals and activities.
  3. Links are permitted to US or State of Alabama governmental agency websites as well as other websites maintained by or or behalf of national, state, regional, or local governmental or public educational agencies.
  4. If a website or the website's sponsor are substantially engaged in commercial,  political, religious, or unlawful activities, the City of Hoover will NOT permit links to such a website.
  5. Exceptions to guideline #4, above may be made if and when the City of Hoover enters into a public-private partnership agreement with private entities to host, market, conduct, and/or manage major regional, statewide, or national events within the City of Hoover.
  6. Exceptions to guideline #4, above, may also be made to provide a public service to the community with regard to emergency information, to provide links to public and private utility service companies, and provide links to websites that contain pertinent life-sustaining, public safety, and public health information.
  7. The City of Hoover may refuse to publish links to any website at the sole discretion of the Mayor and City Council.
