Hoover Belles

The Hoover Belles were established in 1980.  The City of Hoover created the Hoover Belles Committee in 1994. This committee governs the girls and all their activities. Members of the Hoover Belles Committee are appointed by the Mayor and serve for a term of three years. This Committee meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 9:30 A.M. in the Council Conference Room at the Hoover Municipal Building.

A Hoover Belle must be a resident of the City of Hoover, of good character, have a pleasant personality, be enrolled in school, and enjoy the civic responsibility of serving her city and local charities.  Based on these qualifications, girls will be eligible to apply to become a Belle during their sophomore year in high school, maintaining a G.P.A. of 2.5 for the full two years.  During her time of service, each Belle will be required to give 20 hours of community service.  In the past, community service has included:

  • Dogwood Festival
  • Mayor's Breakfast
  • Decorator's Showhouse
  • Women's Expo
  • Bruno's Memorial Classic
  • Bluff Park Art Show
  • March of Dimes
