Commercial Beautification Awards Criteria City of Hoover 2010
Biennially, the City of Hoover Beautification Board evaluates commercial properties within the city limits and presents an award to those properties determined to be outstanding in appearance. To qualify, a property must be located totally within the city limits and comply with all ordinances of the City of Hoover. The entry form must be completed and returned by Friday, May 21, 2010, to Hoover Beautification Board, Commercial Beautification Board Awards, 100 Municipal Lane, Hoover, AL 35216. Judging will be on Thursday, June 17, 2010. The Awards Luncheon will be held at Riverchase Country Club on Tuesday, August 10, 2010. Independent judges, who reside outside the city, judge on the following criteria: Basic Overall Appearance: buildings, grounds, cleanliness Creativity: entrance features, trees and other woody vegetation, seasonal color beds Design & Color Coordination: use of natural features, building blends with surroundings, "WOW" factor
2010 AWARD CATEGORIES: Commercial Properties: 1. Single Tenant Business 2. Shopping Mall, Strip, Mixed Use Center 3. Restaurants 4. Hotels and Motels 5. Financial Institutions (Banks, Credit Unions, Mortgage Companies) 6. Service Stations and Convenience Stores 7. Professional Offices 8. Churches 9. Large Office Complexes Public Properties 10. Fire Stations 11. Educational Facilities 12. Other
Entry forms must be returned by Friday, May 21, 2010. Judging for the 2010 Commercial Awards: Commercial Beautification Awards will be presented in 2010! We encourage businesses of all sizes to get prepared to be judged on June 17, 2010. There are twelve categories; for instance, we have a small stand alone business, Restaurants, and Professional offices. Our judges do not live in the City of Hoover. Landscaping and color play a large role in the choices by the judges. The Awards Luncheon will be held at Riverchase Country Club on August 10, 2010. The awards will be presented to the winners of the 12 categories at this event.
The Mayor’s Award is a special award given to a commercial property or a property management organization that consistently makes an exceptional contribution to improving the aesthetic quality of life in the City of Hoover.
