In mid September, the Hoover City Council, per Councilman Casey Middlebrooks released a statement regarding Amwaste Service Issues. That statement is below:
The
City is continuing to work with the Cahaba Solid Waste Disposal Authority to address the level of service complaints and concerns within the City of Hoover. We recognize the frustration and inconvenience of the missed trash pickup and have been assured that the Authority will hold Amwaste accountable to our service contract, which could include assessing penalties per unresolved complaint going forward.
After reaching out to Amwaste, we have learned that remedial measures have been implemented to address service issues within the City, including additional staff and new route supervision to lessen missed service. Amwaste's District Manager Paul Barber, who is responsible for service in the City, provided a written apology to the Authority, City and the residents. Barber has assured us that Amwaste is working to quickly restore expected service levels.
With that in mind, we ask for your patience in the next month as new drivers learn their routes, and we work with the Authority and Amwaste on how to improve service and to get your complaints resolved in a timely manner. We encourage you to continue reporting any service issues through MyHooverConnect. This helps the City keep a log that can be provided to the Authority so that the City can follow-up when service issues occur.
