We are honored to announce Amwaste will be your new solid waste, recycling and bulk trash service provider starting October 1, 2021.
Your Collection days will change starting October 1 as well. You will still receive two pick-ups each week, but the second pick up each week will be "mixed stream" pick up, picking up both garbage and recycle together. See below for explanation.
Depending on your location within the City of Hoover, your pick-up days will be one of the two days below.
We will post your new pick up days in your area prior to Oct 1.
What is different?
The "second" collection service each week will now be for a “mixed stream” pick up. Everything collected that day will be transported to RePower South and sorted to separate recyclables from waste. While both pickups allow for the removal of waste, only the second collection will be sorted to extract recyclables. NO bags outside of the carts will be picked up on the second pickup of the week. Residents who want to participate in the recycling process are encouraged to retain recyclables until the second collection day each week. No need to sort/clean recyclables – RePower South accepts bagged recycling and household waste co-mingled. For more information about this state-of-the-art facility, please visit www.RePowerSouth.com.
How does this improve the process?
No need to clean or rinse your recyclable materials. That process happens at RePower South. No need to use a separate cart, although you may continue to do so if you want to. Just remember to bag all debris on the second pick up day. Contamination is no longer a problem. RePower South handles that issue.
