A Burgeoning Creative Community
Hoover has a strong creative community built around a historic legacy in the Bluff Park Neighborhood. Creators, makers, and artists now call numerous parts of the city home and are organized through various organizations and events such as the Hoover Arts Council. From visiting the artists galleries in Bluff Park to joining a writers lecture at the Southern Voices event, Hoover has established itself as a creative hub in Alabama.
Bluff Park Art Association
Bluff Park Art Association is a 501(c)3 organization made up of a dedicated volunteer board. Presented annually by the BPAA, the Bluff Park Art Show began as a way to raise money to expand the Bluff Park Elementary Library and has grown into a nationally recognized and acclaimed art show. Today, the event draws 3,000 to 4,000 visitors each year and artists from across the country. With an eclectic mix of media, the Bluff Park Art Show provides visitors with a fresh experience each year – all in the picturesque setting of bluff park, a historic community in Hoover, Alabama.
Southern Voices
Southern Voices is a three-day conference exploring the characteristics of southern culture as reflected in our contemporary arts. Sponsored by Hoover Public Library and open to the public, the conference brings together a chorus of artistic voices - writers, editors, musicians, performers, and public figures - to create a full and open dialogue on the relevance of our regional past to Southern art and culture today.
